This is a group of about 15 patients who meet regularly and discuss the services we provide and how these can be improved.  Meetings are held in the evening and usually last about an hour.

If you would like to observe a meeting or would like to join the group please speak to one of the receptionists or write to the Chairman of the Patient Participation Group at the surgery address.

LATEST NEWS

On 29th November 2007 the first meeting was held. Dr Milan Koya gave a presentation proposing the setting up of a group.

  • Barry Peskin was elected the Chair and Paul Lambourne the Vice Chair.
  • The name of the group was decided (Archway Medical Patient Participation Group).
  • No secretary was appointed. Administrative support would be provided by the practice.
  • The patient attendance at the meeting was disappointing. It was agreed that enlarging the group would be discussed at the next meeting.
  • A membership form and the aims and objectives of the group also to be discussed. A presentation by one of the Practice team around the work at the practice would also be on the next agenda.
  • On 10th January 2008 the first general meeting was held.
  • A presentation was made “Our practice, what it does and how it does it”.
  • A presentation regarding “The patients satisfaction survey” was made and it was agreed that a white board should be put in reception to announce expected delays with appointment times.
  • The telephone consultations on Mondays was announced to the group which it felt could be publicised by the practice.
  • A dedicated notice board for the PPG was requested.
  • A practice website was also suggested with the facility to include PPG information and news. A request was made that the presentation 'Our practice what it does and how it does it' to be included in the website and possibly in a mail shot.
  • A newsletter was suggested. A mail shot to improve the numbers of members of the PPG was suggested. A poster to advertise the existence of the Patient Participation Group was approved.

• Emma Cadogan will come to the practice from the PCT for a presentation on PALS.

PPG response to meeting on 10th January 2008

  • Installed a notice board for the dedicated use of the PPG.
  • A white board has been purchased to display significant delays of appointments.
  • All clinicians have been supplied with application forms for recruiting any new PPG members. The clinicians have been emailed to remind them to seek new members.
  • A web site has been designed, and is still being tweaked and is awaiting approval.
  • EMIS Access is going live shortly at the practice, as soon as all members of staff have been trained. The website will have a link to EMIS Access, to enable online booking of appointments and repeat prescriptions.
  • We will contact the PCT when they are due to next send a mail shot on the practices behalf, to request if they may be happy to enclose details of the PPG with the mail shot.
